There are lots of ways to volunteer.

Whether you want to volunteer for the whole festival or just for a couple of days, work with the public or behind the scenes, there are many ways that you can help!

If you cannot find the perfect role but would like to help in other ways, fill out an application anyway and we’ll try to work something out!

Our volunteers also get a thank-you package. It includes:

  • 20% off of all workshops and the festival show pass

  • Free dinner on the day(s) you volunteer

  • Free entry to mainstage shows on the night(s) of your volunteering, or free entry for an alternative night if your duties require you to miss out on a show.

  • We might need some help picking up international cast and/or picking up and dropping set items around the time of the festival. If you have time and the ability to drive: please help out!

  • We need help to get the theater ready to roll the day before the festival, and take everything away the day after.

  • You are responsible for opening and closing the respective workshop venue(s), as well as checking in attendees and responding to any last minute teacher / attendee requests.

  • The Community Space Host takes care of the community space for our festival: a space where people can come to between shows and workshops to relax, connect and engage in fun community activities.

  • As a stage manager, you are responsible for managing the back-of-house team, which will execute the setup / clearing of dinner as well as any stage setup that is required for the mainstage shows.

  • As a roadie, your main priority is stage setup and clearing for both mainstage shows. In addition, you will do the setup and clearing for dinner (for performers and volunteers). If time allows, you can help by checking on the greenrooms as well.

  • You will help with the logistical setup of Blauwe Zaal for the early show and the late show.

  • You are in charge of running lights and sound for the Blauwe Zaal shows - typically one early show / jam, and one late night show.

  • As FOH manager, you are responsible for managing the front-of-house team, which will execute ticket checks, merch sales, coat check and general crowd management in the lobby before and in between shows.

  • You are responsible for welcoming people to our mainstage shows: checking tickets as well as handing out wristbands for late night shows or guests.

  • You promote and sell our amazing Impro Amsterdam festival swag to the audience before and between shows.

  • You accept and store coats from guests during the mainstage shows. You are also responsible for the lost and found items for that evening.

  • You fly around to where help is needed on evenings where we are expecting a critical mass of activity! You will be assigned to one of the other evening volunteer roles (to either FOH team or BOH team) when you report for your shift.

  • What would a festival be without some visual memories? We need photographers and videographers to capture the funniest faces, the tragic moments and the weirdest stage setups so we can look back at them later and remember everything.
