volunteer!
IMPRO Amsterdam doesn’t happen without a village of volunteers. Will you be one of them?
There are lots of ways to volunteer.
Whether you want to volunteer for the whole fest or just for a couple of days, work with the public or behind the scenes, there’s a way that you can help.
Click the headings to the right to learn more!
Our volunteers also get a thank you package. It includes:
20% off of all workshops you sign up for
Free dinner on the days you volunteer
Free entry to all shows on the nights of your volunteering. If your duties prevent you from seeing the show that night, we’ll give you tix to another night.
Budget allowing, some free merch (TBA)
Photographers & videographers get a +1 for the night they shoot and an extra 2 tickets for another night.

Our international performers are arriving at the airport or train station and we'd love for them to be welcomed by a friendly face and brought to their accomodation. We'd love your help to make sure everybody gets a smooth start into the festival!
-
If you're able to drive a van and/or own a big car you'd be a great help for us: We need to gather festival material, merch, stage props, set pieces and so much more from all around Amsterdam and bring it to the Zonnehuis - and back to storage after the festival.
-
Without you, the theatre wouldn’t be in shape for us to play in! Buildup is the day before the festival begins, Friday, February 20th. We need to get the Zonnehuis ready for a week of shows. The more hands we have, the faster it goes: We start at 9:30 and should be done by 12:30.
Teardown is on Sunday March 1st, the day after the last shows. Teardown is the (unofficial) final party of the festival—a bit of work, followed by a celebration of the work you’ve done. Join us if you’re not quite ready yet to let go of the festival spirit!

If you’ve been to Impro Amsterdam before, you know that we use a lot of different locations for our workshops. We like to have someone on location to check people in and to make sure the spaces are left behind neatly afterwards.
-
The Community Space Manager takes care of the community space for our festival: This is where people can hang out outside of workshops, and it's your job to open and close the doors, make them feel welcome, answer questions, and let us know if there are any issues!
-
You ensure that shows occur with the correct sets, on time, with all needed people present and ready.
-
Roadies assist the Stage Manager in setting up the stage and changing setup between the shows.
-
Ticket checkers welcome everybody to our shows in the evening and make sure they have a ticket. While the show is running, watch for latecomers and silently guide them to free spaces in the theater.
-
You have no fixed role, but instead fly around to where help is needed! There’s a lot of ad hoc and minor tasks that need to be done during the evening; we’ll send you to where we need an extra pair of hands at the moment
-
Promote and sell our amazing improv festival swag to the audience before and between shows.
-
You oversee all evening front-of-house activities: You coordinate evening volunteers for Merch, Ticket Sales, catering, and everything else that needs to be done before and between the shows.

What would a festival be without some visual memories? We need photographers and videographers to capture the funniest faces, the tragic moments and the weirdest stage setups so we can look back at them later and remember everything. These positions require pre-fest briefing and post-production, but come with a few extra perks!
The same goes for videographers: we’re looking for someone to catch the vibe of the festival and make us a nice aftermovie.
