IMPRO Amsterdam 2026 takes place in the northern part of Amsterdam— Amsterdam Noord. The shows are all at the Zonnehuis. The workshops are in locations around Amsterdam Noord, some a 5 minute walk from the Zonnehuis, others a 20 minute walk (or 5-10 minute bike/car ride). As the festival approaches, you will receive an email with all details about your workshop, including the location. Hereis a Google maps link of locations that will be used for the festival.

All shows and workshops at IMPRO Amsterdam are conducted in English. However, for the majority of folks at the festival, English is a second language. Don’t worry if you feel like your English isn’t ‘perfect’ - you’ll be in the majority.

Don’t worry if you don’t speak Dutch, either - most Amsterdammers speak very good English.

Tickets to workshops and shows are available through this website (on the shows and workshop pages) as well as at Ticket Tailor. You can only buy one item at a time.

While we strongly recommend buying advance tickets, show tickets are also often available at the door. We will do our best post on our socials as soon as a show sells out.

This year we are offering show passes for those who want to attend the majority of the festival. Show passes get you into every single show at the festival at a 40% discount (€150 vs. €250). They also get you a swanky wristband and speedier ticket-checking experience.

In addition to this, show pass holders have the opportunity to pre-order vegetarian/vegan meals for dinner. Because our venue is in an area without a lot of restaurants, this is a big plus!

We do our best to make all of our workshop and show venues accessible to all. The Zonnehuis, our venue for all shows, has a wheelchair entrance and lift, and most of our workshop spaces are wheelchair accessible as well.

Arriving at Schiphol Airport

You can take the train directly from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam Centraal. It takes about twenty minutes. From there, you can take the metro, tram, bus, or ferry, depending on where in Amsterdam you need to go.

Arriving at Amsterdam Central Station

If you need to go to Amsterdam Noord, you can take Metro line 52 towards Noord! It's only one stop to Noorderpark, where you can take the bus further into Noord. You can also take the F-4/NDSM ferry for a more scenic option.

Our festival is located in the Tuindorp neighbourhood of Amsterdam Noord. There are many accommodation options available relatively nearby, including Clink Noord, Yotel, and the Farm Lodge.

You will likely need to use public transport and/or a bike during your stay. Our neighborhood, Tuindorp, is a little off the beaten path, and you may find that it is not particularly close to your lodging. Walking at night in Amsterdam is quite safe, but we recommend cycling (it’s the most common way to commute in these parts). The bike infrastructure here is second to none, and it is safe, efficient, and cost-effective. 

There are bike rental shops everywhere, and you can Google “fietsverhuur” (bike rental) and you’ll find somewhere close to where you’re staying. 

Public transport is also excellent in Amsterdam. Most forms of public transit will accept contactless payment with debit card or your phone payment wallet. You can also purchase multi-day passes at ticket kiosks, depending on your needs.

Please remember that you have to check in and check out of every public transit ride. That means dinging your Chipkaart, ticket, or payment card once upon entry and once when you leave. Otherwise, you may be overcharged!

Yes! We will have a community space again this year at Basilika. You can hang out between workshops and shows, talk, rest, eat, drink, or even propose your own group activity.

February in the Netherlands can get cold and wet! Make sure to bring warm clothing for when you're travelling between locations like a good coat, a scarf, gloves, and a cap (and perhaps an umbrella). We recommend waterproof layers if you have them. Our merch table also has hoodies, hats, and rain ponchos for sale if you need them.

We do our best to make sure that everyone at IMPRO Amsterdam feels welcome. That said, if you ever find yourself feeling unsafe, unwelcome or uncomfortable we encourage you to reach out to our trustees.

Our trustees are independent of our production team and exist to support YOU. Their photos and contact info are posted around the Zonnehuis and the community space and will be available on our website during the festival. Their job is to listen, offer support, and help fix the problem, whatever that might look like. We take allegations of unsafe behaviour extremely seriously and make a practice of taking action on every report we receive from the trustees.

Outside of the festival, you’ll find that overall Amsterdam is quite safe. Should you find yourself in danger, however, the local emergency number is 112.
